What you will practise
Lessons combine practical speaking with the grammar and vocabulary needed to understand how German works. You will practise introductions, questions, numbers, daily routines, travel language, short texts and simple conversations with a teacher guiding pronunciation and accuracy.

What can you learn in your first 20 hours?
A first 20-hour German module is not meant to make a beginner fluent. It should give you a useful foundation: how German sounds, how sentences are built, how to introduce yourself, and how to manage simple everyday exchanges with more confidence.
Typical Beginner 1 work includes greetings, polite classroom phrases, numbers, family vocabulary, hobbies, work and travel words, basic verb patterns, noun gender and simple sentence structure. You also practise pronunciation, including sounds that English speakers often find new, such as umlauts.
By the end of the module, many learners can introduce themselves, ask and answer simple questions, understand short classroom instructions, order something simple, talk about familiar topics and decide whether to continue through the A1 pathway.
